Chapter 984: To Beidu (6)
The sweet-talking words flowed freely, making Shu Laoyezi beam with joy. He walked at the very front, holding Jiaojiao’s hand as he said with laughter, "Haha, alright then. During future winter and summer breaks, whenever you want to come, Grandpa will send someone to pick you up."
"Alright, I’ll definitely come if I have time," Jiaojiao nodded, agreeing first without elaborating on future plans for now.
Entering the middle building of the three small villas, as soon as they stepped inside, Jiaojiao felt a wave of heat rush onto her face — there was central heating in the house.
As they entered the house, a woman in her forties or fifties approached from not far away. Uncle Liang went forward and pulled her over, introducing her to them. Jiaojiao learned that she was an elder of the Shu Family, Uncle Liang’s wife, Madam Guan.
After everyone exchanged greetings, Madam Guan asked, "Master, breakfast is ready. Shall we eat now?"
Shu Laoyezi looked at Jiaojiao and the others and asked, "What do you think — do you want to rest first, or have something to eat?"
Two days and nights on the train — after such a trip, people would practically feel like they were falling apart.
"Let’s eat first. Jiaojiao has a sensitive stomach," Shu Jiao said as she removed the cloak from Jiaojiao’s shoulders and handed it to a nearby servant.
Shu Laoyezi nodded and asked Uncle Liang to lead them to the dining room, while he himself returned to his room to change his clothes.
Before eating, Shu Jiao first took Jiaojiao and the others to the washroom to wash their hands. Jiaojiao also brushed her teeth while she was there. As she brushed, she looked at the enormous mirror and spacious sink, internally marveling again at her mother’s privileged background.
