Listening to Jianguo’s words left Jiang Bin silent for a long time. A child lost at around two years old and sold here in the summer – the timeline matched up.
Yet now, as he approached the step of verifying the facts, he hesitated, afraid of disappointment.
"I don’t understand though, why not just go directly to Xiu Xun? That child is quite sensible," Zhao Li asked, perplexed.
Jiang Bin sighed, "Before anything’s confirmed, I don’t want to alarm the child." Before coming to see Zhao Li, he watched outside the sixth-grade classroom for a long time but didn’t dare to call him out for questioning. After all, it wasn’t time to be certain yet, and he didn’t want to startle the boy.
"Do you still remember what the child looked like when he first arrived?" Jiang Bin turned to ask Jianguo.
Jianguo hesitated, "That, I’m not very sure. It’s been so many years, after all."
"What if there were photos?" Jiang Bin asked.
"That might be better. I’ll ask the villagers to see if anyone remembers," Jianguo replied.
Jiang Bin nodded solemnly, thanking Jianguo before returning to his temporary residence. Then, he made a call back to the old house. Initially, he wanted to have photos mailed over, but considering how slow that would be, he decided to have someone bring them in person instead.
