Xiu Xi was nominally eight years old this year, which meant he should have been in third grade according to common practice. The past few years had been delayed by the Xiu Family, but given his exceptional intelligence and ambition, although she always wished he and Ruan Jiaojiao could be in the same class for mutual support, she also did not want him to fall behind because of this.
"No, I want to be with Jiaojiao," Xiu Xi shook his head, determined to be wherever Ruan Jiaojiao was.
Ruan Jiaojiao remained silent on the side. With the memories she inherited from her predecessor, it would actually have been no problem for her to skip straight to the third grade. However, she did not want to, fearing it would arouse the suspicions of the Ruanlin Family, who, in their eyes, saw her as having some potential, yet certainly not to an astonishing degree.
As for Xiu Xi, he was already considered exceptional, and being a bit more so wouldn’t make much difference.
If they indeed needed to skip a grade, it would have to be a gradual process, not something done right from the start.
The homeroom teacher quickly brought over the kindergarten final exam papers from the previous term. Ruan Jiaojiao and Xiu Xi sat at either side of the teacher’s desk because the school’s desks and chairs were supposed to be provided by students themselves. Ruan Jiaojiao’s and Xiu Xi’s desks and chairs would not arrive until that afternoon when Ruan Jianguo would deliver them, so for now, they could only sit at the teacher’s desk.
Shu Lang and the Ruanlin Family waited by the window while the homeroom teacher assisted the other students with their enrollment and kept an eye on them.
The two exam papers, combining both language and mathematics, had one subject on each side of the paper.
Both Ruan Jiaojiao and Xiu Xi gauged their time while writing, taking twenty minutes on an exam that they could have easily completed in a flash.
The teacher collected and reviewed the papers, and was immediately surprised by the glance she gave both students.
