Ruan Jiaojiao hurriedly nodded her head. Once Ruan Hao released her, she dashed out like crazy.

Ruan Hao could only smile helplessly and shake his head as he watched her go. Ruan Jun came over, chuckling, "Big brother, don’t worry, they know how to take care and won’t get into trouble."

Ruan Hao nodded, and the two of them found a spot on the grass to sit down. Meanwhile, Ruan Bo saw them and joined, so the three brothers sat together, watching from a distance and chatting.

His attention had been mostly on Ruan Jiaojiao throughout the day. He noticed her abnormal behavior but didn’t ask; he just pursed his lips and followed.

This river was long, the lifeblood of the crops between two villages. Currently, the weather was hot, and it hadn’t rained for a while. To prevent the crops from drying out, most of the water had been drawn from the river, leaving it shallow enough that it only reached a child’s thighs.

However, there were some uneven spots where the water could be deeper, but the danger was minimal. Country kids, accustomed to roaming fields and rivers, were competent swimmers, almost unsinkable.

Plus, the section ahead had been already waded through by adults, who left many footprints. From the depth of the prints, one could tell the shallow parts, so there wasn’t much danger.

Ruan Jiaojiao stood on the bank, watching her older brothers catch fish in the river, her mind filled with confusion.
