Charlene’s heart skipped a beat. She could easily tell this drawing alluded to their first meeting around four years ago.
Stepping closer, Charlene raised her right hand, her fingers lightly tracing the lines of the drawing. Her heart swelled at the sight of it, a memory so dear to her brought to life by Kallix’s artistic skill.
"Kallix? Honey?"
Charlene called again, her voice softer and filled with wonder. Still, there was no response from the man.
Charlene believed that Kallix was already inside but, purposely hiding from her. He most likely arrived when she was busy at the office.
An anticipation stirred in Charlene’s heart, thinking that Kallix prepared this surprise with a more meaningful idea in mind.
Tearing her eyes away from the canvas, Charlene glanced to her right. She saw another easel stand, propping up in the middle of the living room.
Charlene approached the easel, her smile curling with more sweetness. Another memory came to mind.
The second canvas showed a drawing of them chatting at the cafe, their faces lit with laughter and joy. The soft color palette used by Kallix captured the pleasant time well.
