Chapter 430: An Attack After Another
’She looked a little off.’
The thought crossed Calix’s mind after ending his video call with Leslie. They chatted for almost half an hour before he reluctantly had to hang up for a scheduled online meeting.
Calix didn’t forget to tell Leslie that he would contact her again tonight, hoping to talk to Calliope as well. The little one was still napping.
Halting in his tracks in the hallway, Calix threw his gaze outside the windows. The flight was still soaring high above the sky. The giant metal bird would land in five hours.
’She’s hiding something from me. What is it?’
Calix was slightly caught off guard once he saw how puffy Leslie’s eyes were. She also seemed a little gloomy despite looking cheerful enough once they chatted.
"The movie was sad. Will you cry if you watch it?"
The excuse sounded lame to Calix but, he didn’t pressure Leslie for the exact answer. Knowing how she was, Leslie would share the real reason once she was ready.
"I wanna do something."
Exhaling a sigh, Calix thought of an idea. He would pass the instruction to Edward after the online meeting later.
Calix fished out his phone from the pocket of his pants. Opening the messaging app, he sent a message to Aunt Wendy’s personal number.
