Win My Husband Over to Find My Child

Chapter 344: Shouldn’t He Have Already Died?

After taking off his reading glasses, Calix pinched the space between his eyebrows. He let out a deep sigh, driven by his exhaustion.

The clock pointed to a quarter before one in the morning. A comforting silence shrouded the entire manor as most people were already sleeping save for Calix. He stayed up to finish some of his work.

"Time for bed, I guess."

Calix stood up, pushing the swivel chair backward. He did a couple of stretches to alleviate the numbness after sitting for too long. The work desk was still messy from the laptop, piles of papers and pens.

’They should be sleeping already, en?’

Calix’s mind wandered to Leslie and Calliope. The little dumpling fell asleep not long after taking a bath. As requested, she slept in Leslie’s chamber instead of her own princess bedroom.

Calix stayed with Leslie for a while even after Calliope was already asleep. They shared a simple chat about their day. He left for his home office after checking her minor injuries once more.

Leslie hadn’t gone to sleep when Calix left. She wanted to listen to some audiobooks before bed.

Shrugging, Calix began to tidy up the mess scattering on the huge work desk. After grabbing his smartphone, he quietly walked out of the home office. A quiet hallway welcomed him on the outside.

Calix’s footfalls resounded faintly with each step landing on the marble floor. Warm white lights sprinkled on his back as he continued striding toward Leslie’s bedroom.

"Hello, Mrs. Su."
