Chapter 324: A Fool in Love
Calix returned to the bedroom not long after Leslie woke up. He was all sweaty and exhausted from the sparring sessions. The back of his shirt was thoroughly soaked.
Andrian and Vernon dragged Calix for another round after he was done telling them the story about Xander and the Li family. Perhaps because some weight had left his chest, he performed better than before.
"No matter what, don’t blindly follow your rage. Plan everything in great detail."
Andrian reminded Calix before they parted ways earlier. Understanding his father’s concern for him, he reassured the older man. Being in a rush might backfire on him.
Calix knew himself. Surviving the fire was an easy feat for him yet, he didn’t want any flicker to hit either Leslie or Calliope.
’Stay composed, Calix. Don’t show anything’s wrong.’
Leslie was quite a perceptive lady. Calix recalled the past few times when she discerned his feelings and subtly asked if something was bothering him.
Despite knowing Leslie was never judgmental, Calix still wanted to show only his best self to her. He wanted to be a sturdy tree for her.
For her to take shelter under his canopy of leaves.
For her to lean on his solid trunk.
Pausing in front of the closed door, Calix let out a sigh. He uttered under his breath, "I act like a fool now."
