Chapter 214: No Judgment or Doubt Clouded His Eyes
"Sorry... I cried a lot..."
Leslie awkwardly admitted to Calix. Crouching opposite the chair she occupied, he gently wiped her face with a damp towel.
"What’s the sorry for? You’re just so excited to meet the girl, isn’t it?"
Chuckling, Calix softened his voice as he tried to coax Leslie. He ran the towel on her face before pulling it away.
Leslie cried for quite some time while hugging Calliope. The little one was surprised but, she assumed it was due to the former’s sickness.
Everyone else also pointed out nothing, just letting Leslie hug Calliope despite the adults feeling something was off from the way the former behaved.
Once Leslie was done crying, she asked to wash her face. Calix offered to bring her to the guest room mentioned by Director Li. There was a small en-suite washroom there.
While Director Li and the rest were entertaining the children including Calliope outside, Calix carried Leslie to the guest room. He left the wheelchair outdoors.
Leslie silently watched Calix placing the damp towel inside a small bowl of water. She coughed twice, hesitating to verbalize what was going on in her mind.
’No... I better not say anything yet. We’ll talk tonight. Let’s do it later.’
Slightly shaking her head, Leslie persuaded herself to be patient.
