The next morning.
"Mrs. An, do I look good... in this?"
Leslie sheepishly asked Mrs. An who helped her in getting ready. She would head to the Xu family’s ancestral home within minutes. Both of them were inside the en-suite wardrobe of the former’s bedroom.
Instead of her usual cotton nightgowns or casual clothes, Leslie picked a light yellow chiffon ankle-length dress. Tiny colorful flowers scattered all over the fabric. She wore a pastel pink long-sleeve cardigan over the dress.
"You look perfect, Mrs. Xu," clapping her hands once, Mrs. An smilingly praised Leslie’s appearance, "Your grandmother-in-law will surely be happy to see you this morning."
"Hehe, I hope she will..."
Leslie was actually incredibly nervous on the inside despite being able to sleep as properly as usual. She wondered what Old Madam Xu would say to her the first time they met soon.
The matriarch of the Xu family was a benevolent woman who possessed a heart for justice. Through the few times when Leslie saw Old Madam Xu before, she was certain that the old lady would welcome her well.
Yet, Leslie’s anxiousness refused to subside. Calix teasingly pointed it out when they had breakfast together just now.
"Mrs. Xu, do you want me to braid your hair?" asked Mrs. An while picking up the hairbrush, wanting to distract Leslie from her troubled heart, "A hair bun will look nice on you too."
