Chapter 92: The Culprit Behind Their Daughter’s Accident
Dinnertime went smoothly. Calix didn’t mess with Old Madam Li like before. He shared conversations with the matriarch, Rowan and Bianca. Occasionally, Irene chimed in.
The ambiance was peaceful among them. While they had dinner, Leslie went to Sarah’s room. She wanted to see how the deceitful woman was faring.
Much to Leslie’s relief and satisfaction, Sarah was shivering under the blanket. She heard curses coming from the latter, prompting her to chuckle.
"Hurm... You’ll receive the end blow soon, Sarah. Enjoy staying under the blanket."
Snickering, Leslie swiftly left the maids’ quarters. She immediately returned to the dining room, waiting for everyone to finish dinner.
Calix would request to talk to Rowan and Bianca alone soon. Irene had been informed of her brother-in-law’s plan. She insisted on joining even though Calix said the meeting would end up being unpleasant.
"...enjoyed everything. The dishes suited my palate, Grandmother-in-law."
When Leslie got inside the dining room, she saw Calix conversing with Old Madam Li. Rowan, Bianca and Irene were finishing their drinks.
"That’s good to hear. Calix, how about staying the night? You can sleep in Charlene’s room. You couldn’t do that before, didn’t you?"
Old Madam Li wanted to keep Calix longer in this ancestral home. Envy spread among her friends once they know the identity of her first grandson-in-law.
"When did Second Young Master Xu get involved with your eldest granddaughter? I didn’t foresee their marriage at all."
