Chapter 90: She Would Be in Peace
Leslie and Calix headed back to Graceville Manor at a quarter to one in the morning. Halfway there, he received a report from the leader of the bodyguards left behind to handle Sarah.
The wicked woman passed out from crying nonstop out of fear. The bodyguards dragged her back to Jadeite Peak before dumping her somewhere near the entrance security post.
"Wake her up. Let her run back to her quarters. Give me the recorder later."
Calix ordered the bodyguards to wake Sarah once they reached Jadeite Peak. They did as they were instructed, splashing water at her when she lay unconscious on the tarmac.
A frightened and sobbing Sarah found herself back at Jadeite Peak. The bodyguards had already concealed their presence. They watched her scrambling to her feet, running to the security post.
"Hahaha! Serves her right!"
Instead of Leslie, Calix was the one who laughed out loud over Sarah’s misfortune. The merry sound bounced off the walls of the moving vehicle.
Soon, Calix and Leslie arrived at Mapleview Hills. The entire posh neighborhood was blanketed in a comforting silence. The security guards were diligently patrolling the area.
"I’ll sleep in," Calix mumbled after letting out a huge yawn. He glanced at Leslie, "What about you?"
"Let me see. I don’t need much sleep anyway," replied Leslie with a giggle.
The spouses, no, partners-in-crime parted ways once they reached the second floor. Calix wished Leslie to have good dreams, which she reciprocated toward him.
