Chapter 87: No One Would Say No to More Money
Once they got home, Calix and Leslie parted ways, going to their respective bedrooms. They met shortly to have a light dinner prepared by Aunt Wendy.
"Get a good night of sleep," said Calix before once again they did their separate activities, "I’ll tell Edward to handle the case tomorrow."
Understanding that CEO Xu was worried about her, Leslie responded cheekily, "I’ll look for articles and videos about Rome. Those will help me to sleep better."
Calix’s helpless grin prompted Leslie to chuckle.
On the following day, as promised, Calix gave Edward a new order. Leslie was relaxing in the private lounge when the chief personal assistant was summoned by CEO Xu.
"Check this woman’s bank account, the money flow, everything. Look for this jade pendant too."
Calix gave a few pieces of paper to Edward. Several photos of Sarah and the pendant were printed on them. Irene handed the information to him last night.
Aside from that, Calix also mentioned Sarah’s previous thievery of the sapphire bracelet. He wanted evidence on that too because only Leslie had it before.
"Sarah Yao, a maid at the Li family’s ancestral home," Edward scanned the words printed under the woman’s photo, wanting to get the gist of the situation, "She’s the closest maid to Mrs. Xu before, right?"
Sensing curiosity in Edward’s eyes, Calix explained, "She pushed my wife down the stairs and stole the pendant from her. I want to know where she sold it. If you find it, get it back no matter how much it costs."
"What?" Edward’s confusion heightened. In disbelief, he stared at Calix, "Boss Xu, are you sure? No one in the Li family knows who the culprit is yet, where did you get this info?"
