Chapter 49: Her Sanctuaries Inside The Unwelcoming Home
Leslie shook her head as she recalled how blatantly Calix acted against Old Madam Li. He didn’t mask his words at all, implying the Li family’s eldest granddaughter was in despair because her maiden family treated her badly.
’This guy is really something. I never thought he’d acted like that during their first meeting.’
Leslie quietly watched Calix enjoying his meal at the dining table. He ate happily while conversing with Rowan as if he was not the person enraging Old Madam Li earlier.
After Calix caused the eerie silence inside the drawing room, Geoffrey quickly calmed the tension by saying dinner was ready. All of them, including the infuriated Old Madam Li moved to the dining room.
The Li family’s matriarch’s complexion was awful. It was obvious how hard she tried not to lash out.
Under her smiling facade, Old Madam Li was actually throwing daggers at Calix for disrespecting her. Even though he disliked her, she was still his grandmother-in-law.
How could he blatantly disrespect his elder?!
As for Geoffrey and his family, they didn’t dare to utter anything after being embarrassed several times. Even though Calix kept smiling, they understood that the CEO Xu detested them.
Yet, from time to time, Gladys threw a subtle yet woeful look at Calix but, the young man didn’t pay attention to her at all. Only Leslie watched how interestingly pitiful that woman seemed to be.
Sigh... She really should look for men who liked her instead of aiming for a married man.
Leslie didn’t want to linger here any longer, thinking that she had more important things to do.
