The head nurse held onto the note and looked up, catching sight of a sunflower charm on the girl’s backpack swinging in the sunlight.
She lowered her gaze to the note in her hand again, pondered for a moment, then turned around and walked back into the ward.
"Treat a dead horse as if it were alive," she thought. After all, the situation couldn’t get any worse than it already was.
