Noticing their concerns, Wang He said, "If you are interested in joining the Lin’an base, you can follow us back. We will escort you back to the base."
As soon as he said this, the survivors erupted in hushed cheers. Seeing this, Wang He smiled and said, "We will depart in thirty minutes. Everyone who wants to join us can gather at the entrance. My team will prepare the buses."
After he said this, he left the open field with his team. This time, he brought a total of 30 soldiers with him.
He divided the team into three groups and asked them to find several buses. There were lots of abandoned cars on the road. If they couldn’t find buses, it was fine to bring some cars back.
As for the fuel, they would pump the gas from those cars that couldn’t be used and refuel the buses and cars they used. The soldiers worked fast, and in twenty minutes, they managed to drive back one commercial bus, three light trucks, and one medium truck.
Seeing this, Wang He said, "Divide the team into five teams of five. Each team will guard one vehicle. The rest will drive back our cars."
"Understood," the soldiers replied in unison.
When he finished arranging the team, the survivors and the young man’s team had already gathered at the entrance.
Wang He glanced at his watch and said, "Everyone, we should leave now so we can reach the gas station before dark."
