But when the colonels met Xun Che’s cold gaze, they understood that the best option was to leave. With someone as ruthless and decisive as him as the base commander, they might lose their lives if they insisted on staying and challenging his authority.
At this moment, they only exchanged glances but didn’t discuss the matter with each other. Based on their understanding of one another, the moment they faced danger, they wouldn’t hesitate to use others as shields to save their own lives. Therefore, going together might not be a good choice.
After a while, Xun Che raised his eyebrows and asked, "Have you all made up your minds?"
Noticing the impatience in his voice, one of the colonels said, "My men and I will leave the base."
Xun Che nodded at his words and said, "Very well. Hanli, you will send them off personally. Make sure they don’t take anything from our base."
Standing behind him, Wen Hanli replied, "Understood."
With one of them making a decision, the rest followed one after another. "I will leave the base too."
As the colonels made their decisions, some of their subordinates were unwilling to leave. Although they had to do heavy work every day, they had warm meals three times a day and a safe place to stay.
If they left, they couldn’t be sure they would have the same comfortable life as now. What’s more, with the colonels, they would still have to protect them and find supplies for them without getting paid.
