Chapter 127: Buying A Mansion, And A Home Theater
There was another thing Rael had learned in these past few minutes.
Whenever Zafira had food in her mouth, she talked up a storm.
"So imagine me, right? I was only 12 when I first held a blade, and because I showed potential, the damn king wanted to recruit me to the royal knights!" Zafira complained.
"And you accepted," Rael remarked as he held another rib in front of her mouth, which she swiftly devoured.
"I did, but you know what that bastard did?" Zafira turned to Rael, glancing straight into his eyes. "He exiled my parents! They're still exiled as of today, and I can't un-exile them either."
"The fuck?" Rael tilted his head. "That seems like a little much. Did he have a reason for exiling your parents, or was it just to keep you around?"
"Oh boy..." Zafira muttered. "He wanted me to become his blade, and I sternly refused. My parents heard about it and spread those rumors to the public. In turn, they were exiled for treason."
"Hmm..." Rael fell into thought. "Since it's a legitimate reason, then that's why it's tricky, right?"
"Yep..." Zafira sighed. "I'm just glad my parents had some connections in the other countries. In less than a decade, they managed to assert their dominance and climb to their current positions."
"It's admirable," Rael commented. "But regarding the previous king... can't you put all the king's rulings into question? That's within your rights as the queen of Celestara."
"Rael." Zafira bit into the rib and washed it down with wine. "That bastard made tens of thousands of rulings... and guess what, they're all as bad as those from the Yrgon side... so many loopholes... so many clauses."
"A headache, but it's just more paperwork." Rael smiled. "What if I told you I have a way to reduce that load by 99%? Would you consider it then?"
