Chapter 603: A bloody battle to come.
Mantis nodded, indeed she had leaped to the wrong conclusion, they could not be going after Genesis on their own. But if they were not going after Genesis then it had to be Afaro or the unknown mysterious system host everyone knew about but could never identify.
"Who is it then?"
"Who does the captain want most?" Abby quizzed and hinted at the same time.
"Afaro." her eyes narrowed.
Those that were close to the captain knew the reason why and they understood the captain’s thirst for Afaro’s blood. Afaro had murdered his wife gruesomely, in a way that had left them all shocked and frightened.
She was pregnant at the time but he did not show mercy, he had peeled her skin off as if he was skinning a fish for dinner. Then he gouged her eyes out and left her to bleed out. It had been a slow painful death for her, a brutal one that was undeserved.
He had recorded it all and sent a video to the captain who had rushed home and found her taking her last breath.
Mantis recalled the memory of the body at the crime scene and felt rage and bile rise up in her throat.
"Excuse me," she said brusquely to Abby and rushed off to the bathroom.
In there, she vomited, emptying her stomach of everything she had eaten at the wedding. When she was done, she rinsed her mouth and leaned back against the bathroom wall.
It was not going to be just any battle, it was going to be a bloody one. The captain was going to do to Afaro exactly what he had done to his wife only, he was going to leave him alive and drag the torture out for years.
