Chapter 510 - 511: Meeting Tang Huai Zhang for the Fourth Time
Indeed, after that, Tang Huai Zhang had become much more lenient with her.
Thinking back, Tang Wu concluded that playing the pity card really was the most effective strategy.
A rush of memories came flooding back, and Jian Yun’s smile gradually turned bitter.
Ye Tiao noticed Jian Yun’s smile and quickly, with wit, changed the subject. Glancing at the wound she was bandaging, her face lit up with surprise, "You know what? The bandaging actually looks pretty nice!"
Just as Jian Yun was about to say something, the phone beside her rang.
Checking it, she saw that familiar string of numbers.
Jian Yun wiped her hands and answered the phone, "Hello, hubby."
"Hmm," Tang Huai Zhang’s voice sounded a bit weary, "I accidentally fell asleep and am almost home now. Are you at home?"
"No," Jian Yun slowed her voice, "Tired? Have you eaten?"
"Not hungry," Tang Huai Zhang responded succinctly, "Are you still at school? I’ll come pick you up."
"No need, I’m over at Building 2, remember the Senior Sister I mentioned to you?" Jian Yun’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, "It’s that Senior Sister who sings very well; mom has been talking about her non-stop. Last time, she even played the lute at Aunt Shen’s birthday celebration."
Upon hearing ’Senior Sister’, Tang Huai Zhang’s brow furrowed slightly.
He had certainly heard of her.
He had listened to his mother talk about her at home, and his wife would join in as well; yet Tang Huai Zhang did not hold a favorable impression of this girl he had never met.
His daughter was irreplaceable, and no matter how outstanding she might be, she wouldn’t be Tang Wu.
So whenever his mother and wife enthusiastically discussed Senior Sister, Tang Huai Zhang felt nothing but impatience.
Now, hearing the excited voice of his wife on the phone, he did not want to dampen her spirits, "I remember."
Jian Yun was delighted, "I’m at her place now. Hubby, come over. Let’s have a meal together, I’ll ask Shi Lingyan to pick you up."
"Shi Lingyan?" Tang Huai Zhang asked, a bit surprised, "Ling Yan?"
"Yes," Jian Yun’s voice was filled with deeper amusement, "Shi Lingyan. Where are you now?"
Tang Huai Zhang didn’t respond directly, his voice sounded more distant as if addressing someone else, "Head to Building 2."
A respectful answer came from the other end, "Yes."
Jian Yun, visibly happy, turned to Shi Lingyan, "He’s coming."
Shi Lingyan stood up, "I’ll go pick him up."
Ye Tiao watched him with a smirk that wasn’t quite a smile, "How considerate."
Shi Lingyan raised his eyebrows, remaining silent, and left.
It was no joke; that was none other than his future father-in-law. It was only right to be attentive and thorough.
Shi Mei had already walked into the kitchen and, seeing the fairly acceptable looking dishes, expressed surprise, "You really can cook?"
"Of course!" Tang Jingming was extremely proud, "I am the undefeated little genius!"
"Hehe!" said Ye Tiao, glancing over, "But we’ve got quite a few people here. Will there be enough to eat?"
"If it’s not enough, I had originally prepared five dishes and a soup, but now not only did I ruin one of the dishes, even the rice..." Tang Jingming couldn’t bear to look straight at Ye Tiao, "Whoever marries you is cursed!"
"Damn!" Ye Tiao sprang up from the sofa, "Say that again! What’s wrong with me, what’s wrong with the rice I cooked!"
Shi Mei decided not to get involved in their war and silently went to check the rice cooker.
Emmm...
After putting the lid back on, Shi Mei turned to Tang Jingming, "Who gave you the courage to let her into the kitchen?"
Tang Jingming was filled with regret, "I was deceived by her sworn promises, sigh..."
