Chapter 508 - 509: Meeting Tang Huai Zhang 2
Upon uttering "your husband," Shi Mei’s heart also squeezed for a moment.
Even though it was actually her own father, she had to speak as though a stranger, a sourness already welling up in her heart by the time the words reached her lips.
Beside her, Shi Lingyan imperceptibly tugged at her hand.
His warm, large palm holding hers, Shi Mei turned her head, colliding with a depth that granted solace.
Jian Yun failed to notice anything amiss, only expressing a bit of surprise, "Won’t it be too much trouble?"
In fact, Jian Yun had been pondering since just now that she must introduce her husband to this girl who strikingly resembled her daughter. Now that the opportunity had arisen, Jian Yun saw no reason to decline.
Shi Mei saw Jian Yun’s delight, her eyes softened further, "Not trouble at all. If he’s available, have him come over too. Later, we’ll have Ah Ling pick him up."
Upon hearing this familiar use of "Ah Ling," Jian Yun couldn’t help but pause slightly before returning to her senses. "He should be, although he only returned today from an inspection at the border. I’ll ask."
Saying this, she had already taken out her phone, inputting a number that had long since seeped into Tang Wu’s marrow.
For many years, Tang Huai Zhang had maintained just one number, and Jian Yun didn’t have the habit of adding contact names. When she wanted to make a call, she would directly press in this series of digits.
Shi Mei’s gaze deepened slightly, the elevator "dinged," and they reached their floor.
The door wasn’t locked; Shi Mei keyed in the password, turned the knob, and walked in.
Inside, sounds of cooking echoed alongside Tang Jingming’s disgusted yelling, "Damn, can you even do this? How can you almost chop off your hand just washing vegetables? Get out, get out, get out!"
Ye Tiao’s screams were heart-wrenching, "Holy hell, I’m so miserable and you can’t even get me a bandage? Ahhhhh, there’s so much blood... Ah, it’s over, I’m faint from the sight of blood, it’s all over..."
As she spoke, she seemed about to topple over, but Tang Jingming quickly steadied her, "Such a big girl and you faint at the sight of blood, you useless thing!"
Of course, Ye Tiao was faking it. Upon hearing this, she promptly stuck her finger in his mouth.
Tang Jingming was caught off guard and inadvertently sucked on her finger. His face shifted subtly, and he quickly pulled her finger out of his mouth and flung it away. He even saw a graceful arc as the blood mixed with saliva and sprayed through the air when her finger came out.
Tang Jingming’s face contorted. After spitting several times, he cursed, "Are you insane?"
Ye Tiao laughed heartily, then her gaze accidentally caught the trio behind her.
Upon seeing Jian Yun, she exclaimed in shock, "Aunt Jian!"
With her bloody finger, Ye Tiao lunged toward Jian Yun, embracing her in a big bear hug, "Ahhhhh, I’ve missed you so much!"
Jian Yun was suddenly embraced by her enthusiasm, and could only respond with a mixture of laughter and helplessness, "Maybe stop the bleeding first, the blood’s dripping on the floor."
Shi Mei, left with no choice, went to fetch the first-aid kit and couldn’t help but murmur, "Idiots."
Ye Tiao, hearing her, exploded, "You insult Jing, fine, but now you’re scolding me too!"
Tang Jingming had been rinsing his mouth and heard this, just about to retort, when suddenly he smelled something burning.
Turning around, the previously fresh and vibrant greens were now emitting thick smoke.
"Crap!" Jing rushed to salvage what was left of the pitiable dish, attempting to recover a trace of the remaining corpse.
However, the result was rather grim; the vegetables were mostly blackened.
Tang Jingming clutched at his chest, turning to glare at Ye Tiao, "You’re nothing but trouble, you damn woman!"
Ye Tiao was defiant, "It’s obviously your fault for messing up, and you blame me?"
Tang Jingming was so choked up with anger, he was left speechless.
