Chapter 127: The end of the truth...
"If that’s true," she whispered, her voice barely above a breath, "then why would they want me now?"
Angel voiced her thoughts aloud, her eyes narrowing in suspicion as she studied Arthur.
Arthur, in response, raised a thoughtful hand to his chin, slowly caressing it as he nodded slightly, acknowledging her words.
His gaze flickered with something unreadable, a shadow of contemplation passing over his features.
"I don’t know," he finally responded, his voice laced with a cryptic edge. Then, almost out of nowhere, he let out a short, sharp outburst. "You should probably ask them yourself!"
The sudden rise in his tone sent a cold shiver down Angel’s spine.
Her heartbeat quickened, but before she could press further, Arthur’s lips curled into a mischievous smile.
His expression shifted, his eyes gleaming as he pointed a finger directly at her, as if he had just pieced together an exciting revelation.
"Unless..." He drew out the word, relishing the suspense. "Unless Tryson was wise enough to make sure that his family followed his every demand."
Arthur spoke as though he were narrating a grand performance, each word deliberately placed. Then, with a flourish, he clicked his fingers, the sharp sound cutting through the tension in the air.
"Doesn’t that make perfect sense? Tryson wanting his family to join him? I’m sure the twins from the Bliss family finally caved in, allowing Tryson to put his plan into motion. But can’t you see?" Arthur’s eyes darkened as he leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a near whisper. "You are the key to everything. The very reason all of this has unfolded the way it has."
