Chapter 75: Madame Riley
Ana rushed through the stark, sterile halls of the hospital, her heartbeat drumming in sync with the rapid click of her heels against the cold floor.
The moment she received the call that Riley had been admitted, a wave of unease crashed over her, tightening around her chest like an iron grip.
Concern gnawed at her—was Madame Riley alright?
The thought alone made her stomach twist. But something didn’t sit right.
Knowing her boss, this wasn’t just an ordinary emergency. There had to be more to the story.
Pushing aside the creeping suspicions, she quickened her pace, her pulse pounding as she neared the VIP room reserved for Riley, bracing herself for whatever awaited on the other side.
"Madame Riley?" Ana called out softly, her voice laced with cautious concern as she stepped into the room.
Her eyes immediately landed on Riley, who sat comfortably on the hospital bed, looking far from the fragile, wounded state Ana had feared.
Instead, she appeared at ease—perhaps even in good spirits.
The tension that had gripped Ana’s chest loosened, if only slightly. All the dreadful scenarios that had raced through her mind on the way here began to fade, yet a lingering sense of unease remained.
She knew her boss too well.
