Chapter 217: Disposing a body
Ravi looked up at the sun, it was bright even though it was still a few minutes past seven o’ clock. The sky was clear and the clouds looked like fluffy cotton candy.
It looked like today would be a good day. He attempted the manifestation he had seen a preacher talking about on the television.
"You don’t usually go to work so early. What changed today?" Malik asked. Whichever organization that he had led must have skilled workers because when he got back and went to check up on him, the man was sitting in the front yard, holding a book as he moved his fingers to read it. He looked even better than he was when he felt sick.
"We have a case. Shouldn’t you stay at home and rest a bit?"
Malik shook his head, "I have three classes today. Right now, my health should be better than 65% of the population in Avalon."
Ravi’s lips twitched, couldn’t he just say I am fine like every normal person.
"A case? What kind of case would make you go early to work? A murder?"
"En. Right. Malik, why would you kill someone and dump the body somewhere else?"
Malik paused and looked at him, "Your question is wrong, Ravi. Isn’t it normal to dispose of the body somewhere else? The number of people who dispose of the body close to them for various reasons are very small. A murderer would choose to dispose of a victim’s body in a location that minimizes the likelihood of apprehension. Here is where it gets a little tricky, traveler murderers, who cross state boundaries to dispose of a body , are still smaller than local murderers. The bodies might be disposed of far from their home but it is still in an area they can control. It is one of the principles of geographical profiling, a little near but far away." He paused.
Geographical profiling was a little more complex than what he had just explained, its principal was to link the preparator and the victim with date such as the encounter location, attack location, murder location and body disposal to create the criminal psychological profile and deduce the criminal’s residence, the location of the murder, the place of work.
Ravi rubbed his head at the lecture and shook his head, "I meant." There was no need to run around in circles with Malik. "The killer slashed somebody and then dumped the body on the sidewalk. It is a very public place, why would they do that?"
