Chapter 154: The therafter
"If the Georgiou family sues the Davenport Police Bureau, you would be the one responsible for the entire damage, Chief." The initial politeness that Aurora had shown Chief Ambrose Pritchard seemed to be non-existent. Confronting him on the ground floor of the Davenport Police Building even with the officers watching.
Team one did not particularly like this Chief of theirs but seeing him embarrassed like this was too much for them to buy.
"Hey! Have some respect. You were the one that showed up late so why are you blaming our Chief or what happened in the field." Draco who usually enjoyed cozying up to heroes gritted his teeth as he looked at the five heroes in light blue combat suits.
"Officer, this is above your pay grade. Just shut up!" Nova interjected, causing Lisa to step in front of Draco for the first time ever, using her left hand to block him.
"And you are in our turf, mind the way you speak to us. Hero or no Hero."
Arlen did not look like he cared what was happening as he just headed to his office to take some water.
"Captain Sinclair, but how could you release a member of the Phantom group because they held Officer West hostage? Do you know how dangerous they are, the Heroes Association would not let this go?"
"I was the one on the front lines dealing with the situation and I judged it to be necessary." His tone was abrupt as cold blue eyes scrutinized each of them, "Are you truly here to chastise me for trying to protect my officer over a stupid rock ’cause I am not in the mood for such and I amn’t angry either."
The Chief was taken aback by his harsh tone. This was just a mild question for show and the Captain had always been emotionally intelligent, normally he should understand the true intentions of his question, acknowledge the mistake verbally and publically and everything would be solved later but he didn’t even give me a face.
"Isn’t shedding blood and sacrificing oneself in the line of duty, the obligation of every police officer? Do you know how expensive..."
"Nova, shut up!" Vega interrupted the tall hero and smiled apologetically at Arlen, "Of course, human life is more important than any kind of jewel. We should calm down and concentrate, there are only two days left before the deadline that the Phantom gave. Normally they strike on the last day but because of what happened just now, I think that they will strike tomorrow. They would need a hostage so they would not do anything to Officer West, we can concentrate on capturing them tomorrow."
