"He is my boss, naturally I will follow him," Luo Yue answered humbly.
"Your boss?" Shentu Chu laughed. "But he is in the grave! Are you going to follow him there too?"
"Mr Shentu, there are limits and boundaries to my loyalty. I stay loyal to him in this company because of my duty as his assistant and secretary. Loyal to him to death is a different matter," Luo Yue said, noticing the mocking tone in Shentu Chu’s voice.
"Since you say that there are limits and boundaries to your loyalty, then why don’t you work for me? How about you become my assistant? Your job scope will still be the same, so you’ll be comfortable," Shentu Chu offered him with a smile.
Luo Yue stiffened on spot. "Mr Shentu, I -"
"Your boss is already dead, so you have fulfilled your obligations to him. No need to feel sorry, you didn’t betray him. Now, I’m offering you a new job, giving you a chance to start all over again," Shentu Chu’s lips curved into a smile.
Luo Yue found that smile frightening and malicious, like a predator waiting for a prey. He couldn’t help but shudder.
