Chapter 66: Cotton candy kisses
Shentu Jing saw a stand with colourful cotton candies and thought she might like it.
"Yes, please," the little fox in front of him clasped her hands together and grinned.
He was charmed and lured by her temptress smile, her shining eyes and red luscious lips.
Shentu Jing shoved his hands into his pockets and strolled over to the stall. He bought two cotton candies, soft and pink and fluffy, and handed one to Qin Zhuzhu.
Qin Zhuzhu bit into the cotton candy with delight. Her eyes twinkled at the sweet taste.
"Mmm! This is yummy!"
Shentu Jing looked at the cotton candy in his hand. He had never touched cotton candies after that incident with his mother. But now, he was looking at it, touching it and even eating it with her.
Watching Little Pearl enjoy herself was like taking the long lost medicine, healing that scar in his heart. Cotton candies once belonged to a little boy’s childhood memories where everything was sweet and dreamy. But that childhood was destroyed when the fluffy cotton candy fell to the ground and young Shentu Jing saw his mother hit the road.
"Mom!" The cries of his younger self echoed in his mind.
Slowly but cautiously, Shentu Jing nibbled into the candy. It was soft.... like those years...
And it was delicious.
