Chapter 41: What’s wrong with your boss?
Qin Zhuzhu noticed the way Shentu Ling looked at her. There was clear disdain in her eyes, yet Qin Zhuzhu kept silent about it. She knew better than to disrupt the harmony in a family.
Shentu Ling walked past her, carrying an air of elegance and haughtiness as she made her way up the stairs. Shentu Chu dragged his father away to give the young couple in front of them some time.
Qin Zhuzhu couldn’t understand the way they had looked at her earlier. What was going on? It seemed as if they were pleased that Stinky Jing was asleep in her arms. They were treating his moment of rest as something very precious. No one dared to wake Shentu Jing up, even if he was sleeping at an unusual time of day.
The next day, Shentu Jing woke up. He found himself snuggling Qin Zhuzhu on the couch. The couch was very small—it could only fit one person—but somehow, two people had managed to squeeze onto it. The two had been holding each other tightly, as if becoming one, skin to skin, sharing oxygen and carbon dioxide with one another.
Shentu Jing slowly got off the couch, careful not to wake Little Pearl. He gently caressed her cheeks, his fingertips brushing over her earlobe. Then he bent down and planted a kiss on her forehead. He took a blanket and covered her body and legs before going to wash up.
Shentu Ling had been watching him from above. She gripped the railings and frowned. Was her brother really serious about this Qin girl? Somehow, she felt uneasy about it.
When Qin Zhuzhu woke up, Shentu Jing was no longer around. She went to wash up and ate the breakfast that Shentu Jing had instructed the servants to prepare for her. She thought about the previous night and decided to get some answers.
She found Han Juexian and Ding Yu playing games in one of the rooms. Han Juexian’s character was busy killing enemies.
"Brother Han, why aren’t you helping me? Look! My health bar is down to one!" Ding Yu complained.
