Dong Xin Yan returned to the villa a little after seven in the evening. As she opened the door and walked into the hallway, she saw a pair of men’s leather shoes and was slightly surprised.

Gu Ningyi hadn’t come home this early for quite some time.

As Dong Xin Yan was thinking about this, slow footsteps echoed in her ears. She instinctively looked up to see Gu Ningyi gracefully descending the spiral staircase, hands in pockets.

When he saw Dong Xin Yan, his steps paused, and he stood on the stairs, looking down at her somewhat condescendingly, and in an unexpectedly gentle tone, he said, "You’re back?"

Dong Xin Yan was not accustomed to his gentle tone, and was momentarily stunned before snapping back to her senses and nodding at him, "Yes, I’m back."

Gu Ningyi’s lips curved slightly, and his dark eyes moved from her beautiful face to the bag in her hand.

Following his gaze, Dong Xin Yan realized he was looking at the bag she was holding, and she quickly hid it behind her.

There was a faint flicker in Gu Ningyi’s eyes, and his thin lips moved slightly, but ultimately he said nothing and continued down the stairs.

Dong Xin Yan changed her shoes and quickly told Gu Ningyi she was going upstairs to change clothes, then took the bag and headed upstairs. Gu Ningyi’s dark eyes followed Dong Xin Yan’s figure until she disappeared at the top of the stairs, then slowly withdrew.

Soon, Dong Xin Yan came downstairs. Gu Ningyi was sitting on the sofa watching the news. She pondered for a moment, then slowly walked over and softly asked, "Mr. Gu, have you eaten yet?"
