After Secretary Lin left, the office returned to silence. Gu Ningyi prepared to continue reading the report, but his thoughts couldn’t focus, constantly interrupted by scenes from that night.

Dong Xin Yan grabbed his collar, angrily and resolutely shouted at him, "If you have the guts, keep Ziyang locked up for a lifetime. At worst, I’ll rent a place next to the prison and stay with him forever!"

This scene made him restless, and what frustrated him more was that he couldn’t understand why it upset him so much.

Gu Ningyi abruptly closed the report, stood up, grabbed his car keys with one hand, his suit jacket with the other, and walked out of the office.

Secretary Lin hadn’t expected Gu Ningyi to suddenly come out, and reflexively stood up. Just as she was about to ask what was happening, Gu Ningyi tersely said, "Cancel all today’s appointments."

Then, he strode directly towards the elevator.

Secretary Lin stood there for more than a minute before reacting. Then she blinked again, completely certain in her heart that the boss’s agitation was definitely caused by Miss Dong Xin Yan.
