Dong Xin Yan bit her lower lip again, her voice slightly trembling, yet she spoke each word deliberately.
As soon as she finished speaking, Dong Xin Yan felt a pain in her jaw. Her face was forcibly turned back, and her eyes were caught off guard by Gu Ningyi's dark eyes. There was no anger in his gaze, but a hint of a cold smile. Yet this smile made Dong Xin Yan even more uneasy.
"Dong Xin Yan, is this your attitude when asking for help?" Gu Ningyi let out a laugh, mocking in his tone, "If it is, then you can leave. The door is over there."
Gu Ningyi released her hand, propped himself up, and casually adjusted his collar, maintaining his impeccable appearance and graceful demeanor. He reverted to his usual elegant indolence, then without even glancing at her, turned to leave.
At that moment, Dong Xin Yan's whole heart felt as if it had turned cold.
Since Cheng Ziyang's incident half a month ago, she had been running around everywhere, seeking connections and laying the groundwork, guarding vigilantly and intercepting people everywhere. She finally managed to secure this opportunity to persuade Gu Ningyi to release Cheng Ziyang. If she were to be chased away by Gu Ningyi now, then there would be no hope of saving Ziyang... he would have to go to prison...
