Chapter 76 - 72 Evening Self-Study
Ever since the midterm exams, the impetuous Xie Ying’an has stopped attending physics classes.
All the teachers of Class 1 knew this guy was the least fond of constraints. Previously, Old Wu would communicate with his parent Zhao Yan, asking her to find some time to talk to Xie Ying’an, since at his age he really should be learning more.
But what Old Wu never expected was that as a parent, Zhao Yan had shockingly low expectations for her own child.
"I don’t really have any requirements for my An’s grades. If he doesn’t want to study, then he doesn’t have to, it’s his own business."
Old Wu tried hard to persuade her, talking about how the college entrance examination was approaching and how getting into a good university would benefit him in life, yada yada yada, a whole bunch of things.
"Oh," Zhao Yan responded blandly over the phone, it was unclear if she was really listening, then she added, "It’s fine, my child doesn’t rely solely on academics."
After hanging up, Old Wu’s expression was uglier than if he had eaten dung; he finally understood that Xie Ying’an’s careless nature couldn’t be separated from family indulgence.
If even the parents don’t care, what could he as a homeroom teacher possibly say?
After all, he did have the title of being the top performer in the grade, how could he say Xie Ying’an wasn’t trying?
That’s how it was, Xie Ying’an no longer stayed an extra hour to miserably study physics.
But a teacher is still a teacher after all. Old Wu, using the excuse that the class’s average score was 1.5 points lower than the last midterm exams, requested the students to stay two hours after school for study.
