Chapter 20 Anyway, Better Than This Gu Qili
Chen Jiehui and Yi Yun did not expect to encounter him here.
Chen Jiehui silenced himself, coughing lightly with some embarrassment. With his status, screaming with a young girl that appeared to be only seventeen or eighteen in a hospital corridor was indeed unbecoming. Being seen by acquaintances only made it seem like he was not magnanimous enough.
"Young Master Qian, what a coincidence." Chen Jiehui walked past Gu Qili to greet him, his hand already naturally reaching out. At this moment, he could only pretend that he did not recognize her.
However, Mu Shuoqian did not look at him; his gaze fell on the person who remained silent the whole time.
She stood with her back to him, reaching only to his chest. Her jet-black hair was casually tied into a ponytail with a black elastic band, without any adornment, simple and generous. The back of her red ears, next to some playfully curled tufts of fluffy hair, stuck tightly to her snowy white scalp.
She kept her head down all the time, like an ostrich avoiding a sandstorm, obviously so frightened, yet still pretending to be composed. Her shoulders were too narrow and thin, as if they would break if the wind blew.
So when he took her hand, he could feel her trembling. After a faint struggle, she quieted down, her shoulders drooping, as if the breath she had been holding was finally letting go.
Mu Shuoqian’s chest moved closer, pressing against her back shoulder, his hand naturally wrapping around her shoulder.
Without a single word, when he left, he glanced slightly at Chen Jiehui, the angle so slight it could be measured with the smallest degree of a protractor. His tightly drawn lips also betrayed his many grievances – that expression was definitely not one of happiness.
"Young Master Qian, take care," Chen Jiehui said, still smiling in the direction of his departure, even if he had encountered a huge snub, while the onlookers who saw no excitement dispersed as well.
