Chapter 377: Behind My Back
The easy-going atmosphere between us was completely gone, and in its place was an awkwardness that I truly disliked.
“Don’t worry, I’m very happy for you, but at the same time I am a little worried,” I said while trying to keep my tone light.
“I’m very sorry,” she apologized with a tone heavy with regret.
“There’s no need for you to apologize. I just hope that you’re okay,” I said as I quickly grabbed her hand in mine.
Selena finally looked at me and I hated the sad look in her eyes. She seemed hesitant to tell me about anything, but I still felt like I needed to ask.
“What happened? How did this happen?” I asked.
“I’m sorry for keeping this from you,” she replied without any kind of explanation.
“I guess it doesn’t really matter. I just hope that you’re doing well and that you’re happy with Prince Darius,” I said as I gave her hand a squeeze.
Selena looked at me with tears swimming in her eyes before she nodded her head slightly. It felt like that was all the confirmation that I needed for me to feel relieved. Although I wasn’t sure what had happened between her and Prince Darius, it seemed that Selena wasn’t unhappy and perhaps their relationship wasn’t forced.
“How long have you been together with the prince? Is he treating you well?” I asked calmly before showing her a friendly smile.
“I’m sorry for not telling you before this. The prince told me to keep it a secret,” she ended up apologizing once again.
