Chapter 347: A Wild One
At first, I thought that Roxanna was just ill but the way that the prince was acting in such a troubled way told me that there was something more. The other thing that I was sure about was that the prince cared quite a lot about Roxanna. I pursed my lips together as I tried to control my emotions. It made me feel slightly horrible for feeling jealous given the condition that Roxanna was in. I wasn’t sure if she was or is his lover, but I was certain that she is someone very important and dear to the prince.
“This place isn’t a normal hospital,” the prince said after a moment of silence.
“Not normal?” I murmured questioningly.
“That’s right. This is a laboratory of sorts disguised as a hospital. Well, strictly speaking, it is also a hospital since some patients are treated here and there are many doctors and nurses working here along with many scientists as well,” the prince explained.
“Ok...” I mumbled although I didn’t quite understand what he was trying to tell me or how this was in any way related to Roxanna and the condition that she was in.
“To put it simply, Roxanna’s current condition is the result of a series of failed experiments,” Prince Leonard said in a very detached way.
My entire face suddenly went numb as my hands flew to cover my mouth. I was so shocked that I didn’t know what to do or say. I wanted everything the prince had just told me to be just a joke but the sad look in his sincere blue eyes told me that he was telling me the truth.
“That’s...Why? Who did it? How is this possible? Experimenting on her...a person...that’s just...” I said before I had to pause as my voice cracked with intense emotions.
My words felt like senseless rambling because it was just so difficult for me to piece all my thoughts together. The air in the room suddenly felt so much colder than before.
