Chapter 229: Official Preparations
Night had finally arrived. It felt like the daytime flew rapidly by and the sun seemed more eager to depart for the night to start than any other day. Formally spending the night of the full moon with Prince Leonard was a new thing to me and I didn’t know that there were supposed to be many preparations to be completed. It wasn’t as simple as turning up at his door or waiting for him to pay me a visit. To my slight dismay, the private and personal promise that I thought was romantic between the prince and me quickly evolved into an event that involved so many people.
“We’re here to help you prepare for tonight,” a senior maid informed me after knocking on my door.
Glancing behind her, I could see Salena and Jessie along with four other maids. I smiled a little and nodded without wanting to make a fuss before stepping back to let them into my room. Although I didn’t know why a mini-army of maids were required to help me get ready, I didn’t question it and just decided to go with the flow of how things were supposed to be done here.
“Do I get in here?” I asked to make sure.
I stood next to a large bath filled with steaming water with an abundance of deep red rose petals floating on the water’s surface. The smell of roses felt a little too heavy for my tastes and I wondered if it was designed to help me relax or for it to stick to my skin, perhaps it was for both purposes.
“Yes. Please get in and just relax. I will give you a light massage to loosen up the muscles in your back, arms, legs, and stomach,” the senior replied formally.
“Ok, thank you...” I murmured although I wasn’t quite comfortable with her proposal.
After carefully lowering myself into the bath, I let out a sigh of bliss as the warmth of the water enveloped my body. The water felt strangely light on my skin, and I wondered if it was just my own imagination or if the water had some special properties that I was not yet aware of. Having someone else touch my body even if it was for a massage felt strange and it was an experience that I wasn’t at all used to.
The senior maid was oddly patient with me and her touches felt relaxing just as she had promised. Jessie and Salena stood by observantly as the senior maid continued to do her amazing job of relaxing my muscles.
