The Alpha Prince's Purchased Maid

Chapter 44: Treasure Hunt

“I better find that flower soon so that I can head back...” I muttered.

The driver mentioned that he would be back for me around sunset, so I had to find the flower before that no matter what. Sundown would mark the extent of my search because I doubt that I would be able to see anything after the sun had set. It didn’t take me long to realize that I was extremely poorly equipped for my journey through the forest. I wasn’t wearing suitable shoes for a trek in the forest, and I didn’t have a flashlight to use if it got dark.

“Let’s do this...” I mumbled to myself before taking in a deep breath.

After steeling my nerves and pumping myself with adrenaline, I marched right into the forest on my search for the flower that the Duchess Isabella was so in love with. The forest seemed less dense when I walked inside and it didn’t feel as scary as when I was staring at if from the outside, thankfully. I breathed a sigh of relief; however, my initial feeling of relief did not last long.

I remembered well what the flower looked like, but I couldn’t see it in sight after a while of walking around. As a matter of fact, there were hardly any flowers in the forest at all. There were just trees with green leaves and that was pretty much it. Some small wildflowers bloomed on the ground amid the grass, but it was nothing impressive and nothing close to what I was searching for.

Deeper and deeper, I walked into the forest on my search for the flower. I didn’t want to go in too deep into the forest because I was scared that I would get lost. All the trees looked the same and there wasn’t a clear path. All I could do was try to walk forward in a straight line to at least maintain my sense of direction. I had no idea how long I had been walking for but the fact that I had already started to sweat despite the cool weather told me that it had been a while already.

“It’s not here...I can’t find it anywhere...” I muttered as my frustration started to take over me.

Does a flower that looked so special like that actually grow up here on his mountain?

I looked around as doubt flooded my mind. What if the flower doesn’t really exist in this forest?

But then, why would Lady Regina send me on this mission if the flower doesn’t exist?

Wouldn’t she get in trouble if she failed to deliver the flower at her meeting with the King and the Duchess tomorrow?

“Seriously, if she wanted the flower so badly, she should have sent like ten maids here instead of me alone...or some guards...or butlers...” I started complaining and talking to myself.
