Chapter 700: I’m Coming For You
Zeke clenched his fists and took a deep breath to suppress the irritation and impatience in his heart. Now that the incident was already exposed, he had a lot of explanation to give, especially to Dr. Feng and Dr. Xiao who had welcomed him warmly. One step at a time Zeke, he told himself. He should finish this business as soon as possible and after that... the assassin’s handsome face popped up in his mind. Zeke screwed his eyes shut and shook his head to disperse the lingering image. Seeing Zeke’s pale complexion, Dr. Feng thought that something had happened inside the simulator and asked anxiously, "What’s wrong? Do you feel unwell?"
"No." Zeke breathed as he tried to adjust his mentality. It had never posed a problem for him before, but why did it feel so difficult right now? "About that..."
He had not finished his sentence when a burst of chaotic footsteps sounded down the hallway outside, and then the door slammed open to reveal the middle-aged woman who had run her way here, panting. "Head Administrator, have you seen the news— oh..." she abruptly cut her sentence midway when her eyes landed on Zeke who was sitting in the medical cabin, and tears immediately gathered in her eyes. "Your Highness, you’re awake..."
"Close the door and speak inside," Dr. Feng demanded with a frown.
Nodding, Dr. Xiao poked her head out to confirm that nobody was around before she hastily shut the door. Even though there was nobody in the room but the three of them, she still spoke in whispers, clearly anxious and jittery. "Have you seen it? The... The royal family..." she glanced at Zeke, obviously hesitating to say more.
Dr. Feng clarified her doubt. "I have just shown him the news."
"You—!" Dr. Xiao glared at him angrily. She was so distressed for Zeke that she almost burst into tears right there and then. "Can’t you break the news in a gentler way?! T–They are his family, after all!"
Zeke did not know whether to laugh or cry when he saw Dr. Feng and Dr. Xiao arguing back and forth, none intending to back down at all. How should he explain to them that, not only had he witnessed their tragic death with his own eyes, but he could not find it in himself to grieve over them either? Not to mention, he had also been sticking with the assassin...
