Just as he expected, the plot in this world would take place in a prison. And it was not an ordinary prison either.
Nightingale Prison was the most terrifying and mysterious prison in the world which was built a few hundred meters underground. At first, it was only an ordinary prison used to confine the most vicious criminals sentenced with life imprisonment or death-row prisoners.
However, it was unknown what happened one day but a great chaos suddenly broke out inside. Everyone — including the prisoners, wardens and staff — seemed to have been possessed by a ghost and started to attack each other in the most brutal way.
The prison was already isolated to begin with and hence, when this tragedy happened, it did not rouse any attention whatsoever despite the huge ruckus. It was not until a few weeks later that the higher-ups noticed that something was off and went to check. But it was already too late. Crimson blood splattered all over the walls, the floor was littered with rotten corpses and broken limbs, and the thick stench of death was soaked so deep in the air, creating a terrifying sight that frightened everyone into fainting.
The government was alarmed by this dreadful accident and an official investigation was swiftly formed. However, it did not bear any fruit because this kind of thing was really unprecedented before. Nobody could find out the reason why everyone started killing each other because everyone involved in the matter already died. Even when it appeared in headline news, it did not attract much attention from the citizens.
They were all criminals who deserved death anyway, who knew what kind of twisted thoughts were in their mind? To let those people suddenly go crazy and kill each other could be considered as a suitable retribution.
In the end, the government could only sweep this tragic matter under the rug and let it slowly be forgotten through the passage of time. After that, Nightingale Prison was closed for maintenance for a few years but because this was an isolated prison which had cost a large hole in the government’s fund to begin with, it was opened to operation once again after the fervor died down.
Between the time when the accident happened and now, almost ten years had already passed. Everyone had forgotten about this piece of seemingly inconsequential news and even if they heard of it, they would only think that this was a story created by the government to scare the prisoners into submission. This legend shrouded Nightingale Prison with a thick air of mystery.
