Chapter 596 - 9.66 Live In Pain
As it turned out, Lu Yizhou’s straightforward attack was only a feign. At the last moment, he tilted his head to avoid the bullet, spun his body midair and pushed his legs against the nearest tree branch before launching up again. His real target was — the helicopter’s tail!
The helicopter had given Yang Tengfei a height advantage and the ability to attack in midair. It had also offered him sufficient protection against the zombies’ siege. Lu Yizhou only needed to destroy the helicopter and then Yang Tengfei, Li Zhu, and anyone else inside would fall into the sea of ravenous zombies that had been waiting for them below!
Yang Tengfei was clearly caught off guard by his action. However, he reacted quickly, chased after Lu Yizhou’s figure and fired a few times, successfully piercing a few more holes in the zombie’s body.
Lu Yizhou did not even bat an eyelid. These bullets were clearly nothing. Compared to the bone-deep pain he was experiencing now, it only served as a stimulus to his nerves and forced him to sober up even more.
As he was near the target, he stretched out his hand, the tip of his fingers touching the helicopter’s body... yet at that moment, the helicopter made a sharp forty five degrees tilt to the side, evading his grip! Lu Yizhou grasped onto nothing and could only let his body free fall to the ground. He landed in a crouch and bared his teeth at his enemies.
The helicopter shook unsteadily for a few seconds before it gained its balance again. Due to the sharp maneuver, Yang Tengfei almost slipped out but fortunately, he was caught in time by Li Zhu whose face was so pale it was bloodless.
Lu Yizhou caught his terrified gaze midair and he bared his teeth at the protagonist, causing the latter to flinch and hastily hide behind Yang Tengfei. But at least, his timely help had prevented Yang Tengfei from falling accidentally to his death.
Lu Yizhou stood up with a harrumph and narrowed his eyes. His fingers were trembling ever so slightly from the lingering aftereffect of the antidote. The wounds on his body took longer to heal and they continued to ooze blood, staining his clothes and making him look tragic. However, Lu Yizhou did not even put them in mind simply because he could not feel the pain.
He could sense his power returning but... too slow! There were still a few minutes more until the antidote in his body would wear down. Until then, Lu Yizhou could not exert his full power.
