Chapter 555 - 9.25 What Tempts Me More
"Do you want to eat me?"
That question came out naturally from Zhao Bolin’s mouth as though he was just asking about weather instead of provoking a genuine, certified and legitimate zombie who could bite him at any moment.
Against all odds, Zhao Bolin was truly not afraid. Just like how he had a strong conviction that Lu Yizhou would not betray him and leave him behind, he was also certain that... this man would not do anything to hurt him; that no matter what Zhao Bolin did, Lu Yizhou would keep him safe, always. Let alone frightened, he could not even find a sliver of fear within him. This gut instinct was truly mystical yet for some reason, Zhao Bolin did not want to question it right now.
He pulled his hand back and rubbed his fingers to feel the texture of Lu Yizhou’s saliva. It was slightly cool to the touch and clear, definitely unlike the thick mucus which other zombies produced.
Zhao Bolin’s lips curved upward. He himself was totally unaware of it, but what little doubt and apprehension he had toward Lu Yizhou vanished with this one confession. This person could even expose his precarious identity to him, what more did he have to hide? However, there was something Zhao Bolin did not understand though. "Why... did you come to me? Don’t try to lie," he warned. "I know that it’s not a coincidence that you came here. You could have gone anywhere without hindrance yet you chose to stay here. May I be bold to assume that you’re here for me?"
Lu Yizhou’s eyes were still pitch black in color. Being stared at by such an inhumanely intense gaze ought to be uncomfortable for most people but Zhao Bolin had always been an outlier. He tried to search within himself, yet aside from the vibrating excitement of seeing a rare species as well as something else he could not identify, he did not feel anything else. One thing for certain, he did not mind being stared at... as long as it was Lu Yizhou.
To his surprise, Lu Yizhou did not bring his hands out to sign nor did he give any kind of response. If not for his undulating chest, Zhao Bolin would have taken him as a statue. An infuriatingly attractive, perfect statue of a zombie.
Was he tethering on the edge of insanity and reason? Was he desperately holding himself back? Did he... really want to devour Zhao Bolin that much?
This man always looked so calm and composed as though he had everything in control. Well, in a sense, that was true. With his powerful ability, he could have taken over the world and became the supreme ruler, obliterating the weak human race and starting a new era of undead species. Despite that, here he was, locked in a small laboratory together with a human who could potentially summon a whole team of armed soldiers to fight him. Not that Zhao Bolin would ever do that. His point was... Lu Yizhou had always given the impression that he would not bat an eyelid even if the sky collapsed. Somehow it made Zhao Bolin wonder... what could cause such a man to lose control?
