"He must be beating himself up again." Izher said from where he was hanging upside down on the couch, silver hair falling haphazardly across the carpeted floor. "Want to bet?"
"No need." Lu Yizhou snorted quietly. "He’s you. You know better than anyone how you tend to entertain foolish thoughts in your head."
Izher abruptly sat upright with a scowl on his face. "I am not. I am different from him. I don’t care if people die nor do I care if I perish. I lack empathy for others and I am born without an ounce of sympathy in me. Do you understand, Lu Yizhou? I don’t even care if he’s another part of me." He hissed with irritation in his voice. "I just want to kill him. I want to gouge his eyes out and stab him—"
Lu Yizhou crossed the room in four large steps and took Izher’s face in his palms, effectively cutting off any violent remarks from the latter’s mouth. In an instant, Izher’s eyes fluttered shut and he leaned closer into the touch, almost purring when Lu Yizhou dragged his thumb around his cheekbones. "Calm down and take a deep breath." He resisted a smile when Izher obliged by taking in an exaggerated breath before sighing dramatically. "Good." Lu Yizhou praised. "Good boy."
Izher’s skin warmed up beneath his palm, and his lashes fluttered coyly.
Alas, when Lu Yizhou recalled Izher’s earlier words, he couldn’t help frowning.
Jillian and Izher’s animosity toward each other wasn’t merely a farce, Lu Yizhou could sense it from the way they looked at each other. For starters, the two were completely different. The most suitable metaphor to describe them was that one embodied the light, while the other lurked within the dark. One was righteous, whilst the other immoral. The two opposite sides clashed with each other like mortal enemies.
