Chapter 270 - 6.30 Punishment [M]
Jillian slammed the door open and marched toward the doll Regius, all the while wearing a furious look. "Regius, you bastard! You know everything, do you?" He pointed at the doll’s nose and in the next blink, Regius appeared in front of him, sitting gracefully on the couch with his slender leg crossed one atop of the other. Jillian struggled not to glance down at the pale skin peeking out through the hem of his white robe and trained his glare firmly on Regius’ stupidly gorgeous face that somehow looked even more ethereal shadowed by the flicker of fireplace.
No matter how beautiful he was, Jillian refused to forgive him this time! Hadn’t he known how worried Jillian was all these while? Running here and there, trying to seek out a way to put an end to the war when the solution had been prancing around right in front of his nose!
"Has he been acknowledged by the King?" Lu Yizhou asked calmly.
"Of course!" Jillian snorted. "But that’s not the main point, you—"
"Sweetheart." Lu Yizhou held onto his wrist and Jillian’s momentum faltered ever so slightly. No, get yourself together, Jillian! You can’t melt just because he’s looking at you so sweetly! Heavens! "I didn’t tell you because I wanted you to treat Hayden as usual. If you knew that he’s a Royal Prince, then you must be compelled to treat him differently. What would the others say when words came out? They would think that you have known the fact and used it to your own advantage, that you did it to suck up to the royal family. Not to mention those nobles you often mention with derision, even His Majesty will start to doubt you."
Jillian tightened his lips, scowling. As much as Jillian didn’t want to admit it, Regius’ words made some sense. Even back there, those foxes had praised his brilliant luck and Jillian perfectly knew that they didn’t mean any of it. How coincidental was it that the Duke’s soon-to-be brother was the King’s long lost son?
Soon, they would start to snoop around but they would find nothing because Jillian had always acted like how he usually was. He reprimanded Hayden harshly for his mistake, often making him tear up, smacked his head if he so much as to complain, threatened him and... oh God, Jillian couldn’t help but groan and pinch his brows. What kind of cruel treatment had he done to the Royal Prince...?
In spite of that, Hayden had vehemently uttered nothing but praises and admiration toward Jillian in front of the King, excitedly recounting the years of experience of being under his command. He was talking on and on for hours until Jillian had to stop him out of embarrassment. The thought that Jillian would take advantage of him didn’t even cross his mind.
As long as Jillian remained in the dark, everything would remain as a series of beautiful coincidences. Nobody would ever guess that the person who had directed everything behind the scene was the doll in the General’s possession.
Exactly how shrewd Regius was to have thought ten steps ahead like that?
The longer Jillian thought about it, the more severe his expression became. His eyes were practically searing in flame as a surge of uncontrollable heat flooded all over his body. He took a deep breath and flipped his hand so he was the one holding onto Regius’ wrist instead. "How long will you be able to maintain this form?"
