Chapter 122 - 3.62 No Need For Sorrys
Finally, the external sounds were muffled and all Oliver could feel, see and hear was Lu Yizhou. His breathing, the flex of his biceps, and the warmth that emanated off him through his soaked clothes. Lu Yizhou’s body was very, very warm and he was like a huge portable heater to ward off the chill around Oliver’s body. The cold fabric sticking to their skin was uncomfortable but Oliver couldn’t ask for anything more. Lu Yizhou gently lowered him until his feet touched the floor but Oliver tightened his hold around the Alpha’s neck, unwilling to separate, head firmly tucked into the crook of his neck and Oliver absolutely adored how the Alpha stooped low to a seemingly uncomfortable angle so that Oliver didn’t have to strain himself.
"I told you," he murmured into the Alpha’s skin. "You have to try harder if you want to chase me away."
Lu Yizhou’s breath hitched above his head. "Oliver, I—"
"I can’t even smell the blood on you and even if I can, I don’t care." He laughed wetly and pulled away to cradle Lu Yizhou’s face and bump their foreheads together. "Stupid Alpha, haven’t I told you before? You’re you. You’re the Alpha who took me in during my first heat yet didn’t make a move to mark me, you’re the Alpha who almost killed those who hurt me, you’re the Alpha who asked me to move in with you to protect me, you’re the Alpha who hugged me to sleep when I’m afraid to be alone, you’re the Alpha who present the champion’s flower crown and kissed me in front of everyone, you’re the Alpha who bonded with me." He smiled softly and kissed the winged beastman’s forehead with as much affection as he could muster. "My Alpha, my fated pair, my husband. What should I do to prove that whatever you do, I will never be afraid of you?"
Lu Yizhou’s eyes snapped up to him and Oliver saw it, the fragility. The vulnerability that he tried so hard to hide. He was baring it all now, for Oliver to see. The wonder in his eyes as he stared at Oliver was so intense that it made the omega grow bashful. It was as if he was looking at the sun for the first time.
Oliver cleared his throat. "And before you start to talk about the previous incident, I want to tell you that I don’t care what you’ve done to Peter. You saved me, Altair. You have always saved my life, again and again. Hush—" He pressed his forefinger on Lu Yizhou’s lips to shut his protest down. "Listen to me first, okay? Okay, it’s kind of terrifying and I won’t deny that what he said bugged me...a little. But that just proves how much I need to learn about you..." He grinned at the Alpha’s widening eyes. "...and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life doing so. Will you let me, Altair?"
Lu Yizhou’s eyelids fluttered shut and Oliver felt it as he took a deep breath. His chest expanded, trembling ever so slightly. He looked overwhelmed and Oliver was proud that he was the one who made him like this. "Oliver..." He groaned softly. "Oliver, Oliver, Oliver..." His head dropped to the crook of the omega’s shoulder, inhaling. "I’m sorry that you have to witness such a gruesome scene."
Oliver huffed out a laugh as he pressed a kiss to the Alpha’s temple. "There’s no need for sorrys between us." He cheekily repeated what the Alpha had just said a moment ago which earned him an amused huff. Lu Yizhou pulled away a little and their eyes locked midair. Oliver’s heart skipped a beat at the way those silver eyes gazed at him with such tenderness. The atmosphere was nice, the timing was good and they had already put the problem behind them. Oliver shyly leaned in and angled his head—
"So, what did the doctor say about your condition?"
