Alpha Damon's Greatest Regret

Chapter 51- Monday

ZARAH~

At times it felt like my life was bleak, a lackluster husk of mediocrity and today felt like one of those times, the night before had been unusually long yet there were no dreams, my eyes barely even shut before my room was enveloped by the warm light of the Monday sunrise. I felt empty and even though I knew why I refused to acknowledge it, It was all because of him, I refused to breathe life into his thoughts because I despised them but they persisted, their frequency and intensity increasing every time we shared a space and I could feel it worsening as the night of the festival drew nearer, but I wouldn’t give in to Nala’s impulses, I had resisted them for the past six years and this year wouldn’t be any different.

I groaned as I stepped out of the comfort of my bed, everything I did barely registering in my mind as I hovered through my house like a ghost preparing myself for work and Elliott for school, It all felt like a sped-up blur, But as I watched him walk into the school a warm smile curled my lips and the dread I had been feeling all morning immediately went into the air, I looked at him with my eyes filled with love and admiration as I watched him, his grey bag pack half his size and filled with notes as he was led through the doors by one of his teachers, as he got to the entrance he paused and turned around then he gave me a wave goodbye and in that instant, everything immediately made sense. He was my world and as long as I was able to keep him safe and protected, I needed nothing else, when compared to him everything else felt little and irrelevant, work and even the torture Nala was putting me through all felt secondary. I drove away in my car and went straight to work.

I had gotten to the office an hour early so I could catch up on some work I had neglected because of the weekend, I stepped through the double glass door into the familiar office and went straight to my desk and immediately I got to work, I turned on my computer and waited for it to boot up, thoroughly enjoying the cold silence of the office when I heard Michaels voice.

"Dina?" My head shot at his office where the sound had come from, the blinds were shut and I knew once they were shut they blocked out the view both ways so how exactly did he know it was me, I stood up and his door opened revealing him on the other side with a visible stubble on his jaw and faint bags under his eyes.

"How did you know it was me?" I asked.

"Your perfume." He answered quietly as if embarrassed by the answer he had just given, for some reason the thought of him knowing what I smelt like made me smile.

"What are you doing here so early?" He asked abruptly, an infectious smile plastered across his lips.

"I wanted to finish up some things before the day started." I answered, "Did you sleep here again?" I asked, worry faint in my tone, he let out a soft chuckle as he stepped out of the doorway and leaned his back against the space before the door
