Ignoring the chuckle sounding from my right, I sat down in my chair just as Professor Donna reached the blackboard and began speaking.
Glancing around the classroom, I was surprised to find the students already partially divided into factions.
Those in the right sections all seemed closer to Charlotte, while those in the left sections supported Liam.
Those in the middle column were like the swing states in the United States’ president election process, not yet having chosen a side.
The class was more energetic than usual, due to the news of Liam and Charlotte’s advancement, so Professor Donna repeated herself a few times before announcing.
"I hope you all won’t neglect your elemental studies because of this mana selection process. Remember, you cannot have one without the other."
As she turned around and began writing various formulas on the whiteboard, I sighed and leaned back in my chair.
For my individual rank to actually mean anything to guilds, I would have to retain it for at least a month or two.
But, with midterms coming up, my rank could easily drop.
Or...I could leverage my current position within the Imperial class with a guild right now and sign a contract.
Then, I wouldn’t have to worry about my individual rank dropping in the future.
