The male and female second years were both in the Imperial dorm class and respectively ranked first and second amongst all their peers.
It seemed Mira and I weren’t the only Imperial students participating in the competition.
They wouldn’t really have a place in the book until the school’s annual practice exams, when first-years paired with second and third-years to face against others in a battle-royale style format.
Unfortunately, Evangel had not been teamed up with the duo.
Thus, Evangel and her teammates were knocked out within the first twenty minutes of the battle royale upon meeting the duo.
The moment had served to humble Evangel and display to the reader the massive gaps in power between first, second, and third-year students.
Succumbing to my exhaustion, I allowed my head to fall backward as I gazed up at the normal night-black sky, no longer blocked by the magic bubble.
Finally, as a gust of wind brushed against my face and pushed my amber-brown hair back, Principal Alice’s energetic voice sounded one last time.
As if she were commentating the Super Bowl or the final game of the World Cup, her voice rang out so loud and far that I was sure people all the way within the capital city had heard it.
"AND...YOUR OFFICIAL WINNERS AND TOP-PLACERS...ALL THE WAY FROM THE FIRST-YEAR..."
Letting the words "FIRST-YEAR" float in the air, principal Alice paused, letting the sounds of gasps and people spitting out their drinks pass by.
