I Got Reincarnated as a Zombie Girl

Chapter 125 – Beneath the Gentle Light

Morning light filtered through the thin curtains, filling the room with a soft, warm glow. Tiny specks of dust danced in the air, as if celebrating something important yet unspoken. On the large bed, Sofia still lay beneath a clean white blanket, while Sylvia sat beside her, their faces only inches apart.

Sofia remained silent. Her eyes, which had first looked at Sylvia with confusion, now brimmed with tears. Her gaze trembled, as if she couldn’t believe the world around her was real. A soft pink blush slowly crept up her cheeks, making her look like a flower blooming after a long winter.

"...Are you serious?" she whispered at last, barely audible. Her voice was so fragile, like a fine thread that could snap if touched too roughly.

I didn’t answer right away. I let the silence wrap around us, allowing both our hearts to beat loudly in a near-sacred stillness. My hand reached out slowly, gently touching Sofia’s fingers that rested atop the warm blanket.

"Yes," I finally said, my voice soft but unwavering. "I’m serious, Sofia. I have no reason to lie about something like this. Especially not to you."

Sofia looked down. Her golden hair fell messily over her shoulders, some strands covering her reddened face. She stared at their entwined hands, as if trying to make sure this wasn’t just a sweet illusion that would disappear when she woke up.

"...I didn’t think that... we loved each other," she said quietly. A shy but genuine smile slowly formed on her lips her face was already bright red, like a ripe tomato ready to be picked. Her gaze rose to meet Sylvia’s again, and this time there was no more doubt. Only warmth, and a fear that was slowly melting under the weight of sincerity.

I smiled too. "So... Sofia, does that mean we can be lovers now?"

The question lingered in the air. For a moment, the world felt completely still. Even the ticking of the clock on the wall seemed to slow, as if paying respect to the moment just unfolding.

Sofia looked into Sylvia’s eyes those violet eyes that once felt cold and distant, now holding a warmth that nearly burned. Then, slowly, she lowered her head and gave a small, bashful nod. "Mm..."

I said nothing. I simply leaned in, allowing myself to be drawn into that tender silence. My fingers gently brushed Sofia’s cheek. I saw her close her eyes, her body tensing slightly as if waiting... , waiting for something that could only happen between two hearts now laid bare.
