Chapter 93 – Cave of the Forgotten
As the light of the teleportation faded, I opened my eyes and found myself standing before a massive stone door, half-covered in moss. The air around me was heavy and cold, as if welcoming each visitor with whispers of death. Above the door, ancient carvings with unknown symbols glowed faintly, hinting that this place had been abandoned for a very long time.
I took a deep breath or at least tried to, though my lungs no longer worked like those of an ordinary human. Just a reflex, a habit not yet fully discarded. I exhaled slowly, attempting to calm the tension creeping in, even though my body no longer felt nervous in quite the same way.
Behind me stood three figures werewolf zombies who accompanied me. They weren’t ordinary undead; each had once been a powerful individual. A seasoned receptionist, the wife of a guild leader, and the guild leader himself a true lycan. Now, they were my subordinates, an elite combat force ready to explore this dungeon at my side.
"All right," I murmured. "Let’s begin."
With a light push, the stone door shifted, revealing the pitch darkness within. My footsteps echoed as I stepped onto the stone floor, and instinctively, my eyes adjusted to the low light. My night vision activated automatically, turning the world before me into shades of gray and green clear enough to navigate.
The dungeon was utterly silent. No wind, no dripping water only the faint hiss of death’s aura lingering in every corner.
It didn’t take long before the first enemy appeared a thin skeleton emerged from behind a collapsed pillar. It raised its rusted sword slowly, as if just waking from a long slumber.
I simply stared at it, then struck with a straight punch to its skull. The bone figure flew back and shattered into pieces before it even hit the ground.
"That’s it?" I muttered. "Too weak."
