Chapter 62 – The Sound of the Pen at Night
Sofia rise from the bath, rinsing off her body, warm water dripping from her now-damp golden hair. She grabbed a towel and wrapped it around herself with graceful motion before saying, "I’m done first. Don’t take too long, okay?"
I only gave a faint nod, still leaning against the side , letting the warm water soothe my naturally cold body. For a moment... I felt alive.
Twenty minutes passed in peaceful silence. Once I was satisfied, I left the bathroom, drying my hair with a towel. But as I opened the door, I froze.
My black dress... was gone.
I turned to Sofia, who was sitting near the wardrobe, and asked in a flat tone, "Where’s my dress?"
Sofia quickly looked over and replied casually, "I washed it. It was dirty since you came from the forest, right?"
It didn’t need washing... I thought to myself. It cleans itself.
Still, I didn’t protest further. Sofia had already prepared clean clothes for me—a loose gray shirt and a new pair of underwear. She even included a bra... though I didn’t know how to wear it, nor did I have any intention of learning right now.
So I just put on the shirt, letting it cover my upper body, and wore the underwear. It felt... strange. But comfortable.
I stepped slowly out of the bathroom.
Sofia’s room was now dim, lit only by candlelight from a few corners. The soft scent of lavender still filled the air. The room felt warm and peaceful, a stark contrast to the death-filled world outside.
